“Whatever you put in, you’re going to get back out. You’re going to get rewarded – myself included. I worked hard and now I got promoted to a Training and Process Lead!”

“The people are really nice. The best part is knowing you can help them and make their job easier, which in all reality makes everybody’s job easier.”

“No two days are the same. One day I might be counting or I may be doing something else. I like to help my coworkers with whatever they’re working on.”

Warehouse & Distribution Hiring Process

FAQs

Application and Hiring

Most in-person interviews are scheduled the same day as your phone interview! The typical process from application to Hire is roughly 1 week (Pre-employment checks can affect the duration of the hiring process. 1 week is just an estimation. Everyone’s experience could vary to some degree.)

You MUST be at least 18 years of age or older to work for Ace Hardware Corporation in the distribution centers.

There are 15 (and about to be 16) different distribution Centers around the United States. Starting pay varies by location. Contact your local Talent Acquisition Partner today to learn more about your center!

Grace is Ace Hardware’s personal AI assistant. She helps our candidates from application through start day and everything in between. You can talk to her just like you would a normal human being.

For most open positions, you do not need experience to work at Ace Hardware at the Distribution Centers. We actually train you on power equipment and voice activated picking systems as well to make sure you are comfortable before you head out to the floor.

Every position can be different in regards to training. Ace Hardware has one of the best training programs in the distribution industry. You will have weekly check-ins with members of your management team to make sure you are on the right track to being the most productive during your day here with us.

We offer many different shifts at Ace Hardware! Shift times and days vary by location.

That is a wonderful question! To best be prepared for your interview please consider your attire. You will be going on a walking tour of our facility so it is imperative that you wear CLOSED TOE shoes. If you arrive with open toed shoes, it may result in you missing your interview time. It is also very important to make sure you dress comfortably, but that you are dressed appropriately. No offensive clothing or items with a ton of holes the day of your interview. You also will need a photo ID to get through our security at the front door.

Like mentioned above, Ace Hardware offers many different shifts. Talk with a Talent Acquisition Partner to learn more.

Yes, we do! Classes that are directly related to your position at Ace Hardware are eligible for tuition reimbursement. Please see Human Resources on your first day to learn more.

Interview Tips

So you had a great phone interview with the local Talent Acquisition Partner at the center you applied for. We are so excited for you to have your in-person interview and warehouse tour with the management team!

  • Please pay attention to the messages that Grace, Ace Hardware’s recruiting AI, sends you about your interview. Sometimes things happen and we (or you) may need to reschedule for a time that works best for all schedules. If you need to reschedule, just let Grace know and she will coordinate a different time.
  • When you get to the center, please make sure you have 2 crucial items: Your photo ID and closed-toe shoes. You will need these to get through security.
  • It is also highly suggested that if you did not upload your resume in the application process, that you bring it with you! It is not required at all, but it is best to have it to put your best foot forward.
  • Most centers have visitor parking that you may park in. You can park anywhere that there are open spots if there is no visitor parking available. Please keep in mind that depending on the time of day, there may be limited parking and you may have to walk quite a ways to get to the front of the building.
  • Please allow yourself plenty of time to get to the building on time. *If you think you may be late, please let Grace know and she will let the local Talent Acquisition Partner know as well as security.
  • Please note: If you are more than 5 minutes late, you may be asked to reschedule your interview.
  • You will go to the front doors and, typically, there is a call button to hit to let security know you are here for your interview. If there is no call button, just open the front door.
  • Present your ID to the Loss Prevention team member and they will let the management team know you have arrived for your interview. They will have you wait in the lobby until your interviewer and/or the local Talent Acquisition Partner comes to welcome you.
  • Like mentioned above, you will be going on a warehouse tour where we will show you the warehouse, and you can see firsthand what daily operations look like. This is where you can ask in-depth questions about what our team members are doing and see what you would be doing while working for Ace Hardware.
  • Once the warehouse tour is complete, you will have a sit-down interview with the management team as well. This is when they will ask more questions to determine if we are a great fit for each other. This is also the time to ask any other questions that were not answered during the phone interview or the warehouse tour.
  • Management will discuss your interview with the local Talent Acquisition Partner and they will determine if we are ready to move forward with a contingent offer of employment.
  • Most offers are done the same day as your in-person interview as well as your on-site drug screening. The Talent Acquisition Partner will assist you in that process. They will help you sign your offer letter and work with the Loss Prevention team on performing your on-site drug screen.
  • Sometimes the Talent Acquisition Partner and the management team need a little bit more time to discuss and to interview some other candidates. That does not mean we are not going to be giving you an offer. You will be notified in 3 days if we are prepared to give you a contingent offer or if we have decided to pursue other candidates at this time.
  • Once your offer is signed and your on-site drug screen is complete, the local Talent Acquisition Partner will explain the next steps in the pre-employment process, which includes a background check.
  • A member of Human Resources will reach out to you to let you know that your pre-employment process is complete and when your first day will be with Ace Hardware. You will be scheduled for a New-Hire Orientation. This is a 2-day event where you learn everything you will need to know about Ace and learn about the important safety items that every team member must know before they go into department-specific training. If you were hired into a department with power equipment, this is also where you will be trained on those items.
  • The Human Resources team will also let you know about any pre-hire paperwork that must be completed prior to coming to your new-hire orientation. Be sure to bring your I-9 support documents.
  • You should also bring any banking information that you may need to set up your direct deposit if you have not set it up while completing your pre-hire paperwork.
  • After your 2 days of New-Hire Orientation, you will head to your department and work with your direct team on the rest of your training. You will have weekly check-ins with your trainers and the management team so we can see how you are doing and help tailor your training to you!
  • If you have any additional questions that were not answered above, let Grace know and she will answer them for you or will get in contact with your Talent Acquisition Partner to assist you further. We are so excited to have you work with us at Ace Hardware. Welcome to working with the Helpful Hardware folks!
