2 FULL TIME RETAIL SALES ASSOCIATE I POSITIONS OPEN

General Summary

Upholds the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of the company. The primary responsibilities of the Retail Sales 1

Associate positions are to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales

throughout the store, effectively merchandise products, process sales quickly,

accurately, and efficiently with cash register operations, and assist in retail

stocking, resets, labeling, etc.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Customer Service:

  • Ensure each customer receives outstanding customer service which follows the S.A.L.E.S process and by mystery shop standards
  • Provide a positive representation of Ace Hardware.
  • Proactively assist customers in solving problems.
  • Participate in offering and opening Ace Rewards cards for customers
  • Assist customers in knowing about our customer survey and where to go to participate
  • Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store.
  • Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers and associates.
  • Ensure all pages and calls are answered promptly, courteously, and effectively.
  • Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management.
  • Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
  • Assist customers throughout the store in locating merchandise, placing orders on acehardware.com, and processing special orders with personal, customized service based on the premise of amazing every customer, every time.

Store Operations

  • Assist in creating a positive, professional, and safe work environment.
  • Assist with receiving, checking in, and stocking merchandise throughout the store.
  • Assist with maintaining back stock levels.
  • Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness, and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room, and outdoor merchandise area.
  • Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and ad merchandise.
  • Assist with merchandise resets through the store.
  • Assist department specialists with price changes and special orders.
  • Ensure signage is current throughout the store.
  • Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements
  • Operate forklift with proper training.
  • Communicate any Store Support Center issue to the General Manager for follow-up.
  • Communicate merchandising, cost control, or sales ideas to the General Manager.
  • Participate in store meetings.
  • Be professional in appearance and actions.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

The minimum requirements for this position include the

following:

  • Education/Training: High School diploma
  • Experience in a retail environment either in a cashier, sales, or back office
  • A commitment to service, excellence, and customer satisfaction
  • Skill/Knowledge: Ability to process information and/or merchandise through the register system
  • Ability to communicate with associates and customers
  • Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of retail computer systems and electronic cash registers
  • Exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business

Physical Requirements

The minimum physical requirements for this position

include:

• Frequently stock, load, and unload customer orders lifting to 40lbs

• Ability to stand for an extended period of time

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

The minimum training requirements for this position in the first 90 days include:

  • Ace Learning Place beginning courses
  • Epicor Training POS basics courses·
  • Propane certification (if applicable)·
  • Service Center training
  • Helpful Ready
  • Rental Center training

The minimum training requirements for this position in the first year include:

  • Ace Learning Place select advanced courses in POS·
  • Epicor Training advanced POS courses·

POSITION SUMMARY

maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales throughout the store, effectively merchandise products, process sales quickly, accurately,

and efficiently handle cash register operations and assist in retail stocking, resets, labeling, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES·

  • Ensure each customer receives outstanding customer service which follows the S.A.L.E.S process and by mystery shop standards
  • Accurately and efficiently ring on registers and maintain all cash at registers·
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers
  • Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements
  • Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management
  • Assist in the training and development of peers
  • Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards
  • Participate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back stock area clean and organized
  • Be conscious of shoplifting activity·
  • Aid customers in locating merchandise in the store, on acehardware.com, as well as processing special orders·
  • Correctly organize and stock products from the weekly Ace truck
  • Answer customers’ questions and provide information on procedures and policies
  • Execute inventory management protocol as established by the Store Manager·
  • Adhere to all store safety policies·
  • Greet customers as they enter the store
  • Answer phone calls
  • Tactfully and pleasantly assist customers
  • Solicit customers to open an Ace Rewards card
  • Verify documents and receive product

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES·

  • Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess product knowledge of hardware-related products along with a willingness to learn
  • Establishing relationships and working with customers
  • Experience in a retail environment, either in marketing, sales, or back-office
  • Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of retail computer systems and electronic cash registers
  • A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction·
  • Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills·
  • Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask·
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the business·
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time·
  • Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store

Must work weekends and Ace events
