26–40 Hours per Week | Weekends Required (In-Season)

Downtown Ace Hardware features a 12,000 square foot lower level dedicated to patio furniture, outdoor living, and premium grills. This is one of the largest and most distinctive patio showrooms in the region. We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Patio & Grilling Specialist who enjoys helping customers invest in their outdoor spaces and navigate options across a wide range of brands and price points. This role requires strong product knowledge, organization, and follow-through — and offers the opportunity to be part of a high-impact department within our store.

While our preference is to hire long-term team members, we recognize that some strong candidates may be available for the summer season only. If you bring reliability, initiative, and strong availability during our busiest months, we encourage you to apply.

What You’ll Do      

  • Guide customers through patio furniture and grill selections across multiple brands and price tiers
  • Learn and communicate brand differences, features, and value positioning
  • Place and track special orders accurately
  • Coordinate with vendors regarding orders, backorders, and product issues
  • Troubleshoot product or warranty concerns in partnership with vendors
  • Oversee customer orders through the full process: purchase, assembly, scheduling, and delivery
  • Help track multiple moving parts and ensure timely, organized follow-through
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-merchandised showroom displays
  • Support customers throughout the store as needed
  • This is a consultative sales environment — not high-pressure, but high-accountability.
  • This is an active, fast-paced department — especially during peak spring and summer months.

What We’re Looking For·        

  • Strong interest in outdoor living, grilling, or home improvement
  • Ability to learn and confidently explain multiple patio and grill brands      
  • Comfort working with products across entry-level to premium price points
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple customer orders at once without losing momentum
  • Clear and professional communication with customers and vendors
  • Initiative — you look for what needs to be done
  • Reliability — especially on weekends during peak season
  • Experience in retail sales, order coordination, vendor communication, or customer service is a plus — but a strong work ethic and ownership mindset are just as important.

Schedule & Availability        

  • 26–40 hours per week    
  • Weekends are required during peak spring and summer season.    
  • Store Hours:

Monday–Saturday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Sunday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

  • Team members work a variety of shifts including mornings and evenings.
  • Strong preference for candidates available both weekend days during spring and summer.
  • Patio & Grilling is a high-traffic department on weekends, and coverage is critical.
  • Flexible hours preferred Flexible start dates

Compensation & Benefits

  • $16-$19 per hour depending on experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable climbing ladders
  • Ability to assist with moving patio furniture and grills
  • Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
