POSITION SUMMARY

Upholds the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of the company. The LBM Sales 1 Associate will primarily focus on completing stock orders for the contracting area and providing excellent customer service. This position is responsible for maximizing store sales by amazing every customer every time, maintaining exceptional customer relationships, and contributing to the growth and development of the store associates.  They will also focus on generating an in-stock position to satisfy every customer by having the right

product, in the right quantity at the right time. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales and Operations:

●  Able to pay attention to and accurately note details, instructions, specific information, etc., as received from a customer or manager.

●   Coordinate incoming and outgoing lumberyard deliveries.

●   Maintain Contracting office cleanliness and safety

●   Cross-train associates store-wide on basic services and operations

●   Stock and label products kept in the Contracting Area

●   Know and understand the building materials that we stock and special order and their proper application

●   Efficiently and accurately build special orders for various items and materials for contractors and homeowners

●   Maintain and be responsible for a given portion of stock items kept in the Contractors’ area

●   Answer incoming phone calls

●  Accurately run the cash register for any Contracting or warehouse purchases

Customer Service

  • Provide high-quality customer service - choosing the correct product for the job, training the customer on the proper features and use of the product, and addressing customer complaints and issues.
  • Drive customer satisfaction by ensuring that all customers are acknowledged, customer’s needs are met, and concerns are resolved quickly.

Inventory Operations·        

  • Ensure data accuracy within the system to maintain adequate inventory levels     
  • Shoot outs, research variances, and correct, as necessary     
  • Monitor shrinkages and recommend ways to reduce theft and breakage, and correct, as
  • necessary       
  • Identify obsolete inventory and maintain markdown strategies·        
  • Maintain accuracy of all location codes·        
  • Collaborate with receivers and cashiers to help identify errors and correct them, as necessary·        
  • Shop local competition for top sellers, sensitive items, and niche opportunities·        
  • Have a solid relationship with our suppliers to ensure that we are getting the best product at the best price 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

●  High School Diploma or GED

●  A minimum of two (2) years directly related experience in retail is preferred

●  Possess a valid in-state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record following the company’s insurance carrier’s standards

●  Sales and marketing experience within a retail environment

●  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within all levels of the organization

●  Above average time management and organizational skills

●  Knowledge of retail computer systems and Microsoft Office experience

●  Ability to stand, sit, bend, or reach, for an extended period

●  Move and handle up to 40 lbs.

Physical Requirements

The minimum physical requirements for this position include:

• Frequently stock, load, and unload customer orders lifting to 40lbs

• Ability to stand for an extended period of time

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

The minimum training requirements for this position in the first 90 days include:·    

  • Ace Learning Place beginning courses       
  • Epicor Training POS basics courses·        
  • Propane certification (if applicable)·      
  • Service Center training

The minimum training requirements for this position in the first year include

  • Ace Learning Place select advanced courses in POS·       
  • Epicor Training advanced POS courses·        

A minimum of 30 hours of continuing education directly related to this position is required annually.
