Downtown Ace Hardware is looking for a knowledgeable, motivated Lawn & Garden team member who enjoys helping customers grow, improve, and

maintain their indoor and outdoor spaces. If you’re the person friends ask about irrigation, plant health, pest control, or which fertilizer to use — or you’re eager to become that person — we’d love to meet you.

While our preference is to hire long-term team members, we recognize that some strong candidates may be available for the summer season only. If you bring reliability, initiative, and strong availability during our busiest months, we encourage you to apply.

What You’ll Do

• Provide hands-on, solution-based customer service in Lawn & Garden
• Assist customers with irrigation systems, lawn care products, fertilizers, pesticides, rodent and insect control, and outdoor power
• equipment.
• Support customers with live plant selection, plant care advice, watering schedules, soil health, and troubleshooting plant issues
• Maintain healthy, well-cared-for live plant displays
• Keep outdoor and garden areas clean, organized, and fully stocked
• Support seasonal transitions
• Assist throughout the store as needed beyond Lawn & Garden
• This is an active, fast-paced department — especially during peak spring and summer months.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong working knowledge of lawn and garden products, including:

Irrigation

Fertilizers and soil health

Pesticides and herbicides

Rodent and insect control

Lawn and garden tools

Outdoor power equipment

Live plant care and maintenance OR a solid foundation with the ability and motivation to quickly learn and confidently educate customers

• Strong attention to detail
• Initiative — you look for what needs to be done
• Reliable attendance, especially on weekends
• Positive, solution-focused communication

Schedule & Availability

• 26–40 hours per week
• Weekends are required during peak Lawn & Garden season

Store Hours:

Monday–Saturday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Sunday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

• Team members work a variety of shifts including mornings and evenings
• Strong preference for candidates available both weekend days during spring and summer.
• Flexible availability preferred
• Flexible start dates

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly
• Comfortable climbing ladders
• Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to move merchandise such as bags of soil, fertilizer, propane tanks, lawn tools, equipment, and plant materials

Compensation & Benefits

$16-$19 per hour depending on

experience
