Greets all customers and assists in answering questions about merchandise and locating merchandising; uses The S.A.L.E.S. process to help customers find everything on their lists.
Completes all company and departmental paperwork accurately, including Price Change Bulletins, Operation Actions, Red Tags, and Bin Tags.
Receives, opens, and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking paperwork against items received when required, and replenishes stock when necessary.
Displays and maintains merchandise on end caps, shelves, counters or tables following company plan‐ogram, building displays when necessary to attract customers and promote sales within specified
guidelines by your management team.
Maintains on‐hand integrity through inventory adjustment reports including; cycle count, negative onhand. Follows the nightly maintenance checklist to ensure proper store recovery and cleanliness.
Maintains familiarity with new products and ad merchandise.
Has sound awareness of surroundings, customers, etc. and practices loss prevention techniques to minimize shoplifting losses.
Working knowledge of the tools available to operate the store; including, but not limited to: RF Gun, Back Office Procedures and the use of Store Opportunities.
Follows GLA policies and procedures for all transactions. Engages the customer to ensure they are receiving all the benefits of being an Ace Rewards member and actively seeking participation from them.
Must be able to communicate effectively, and work with colleagues and customers effectively and professionally.

Assists with color matching and mixing paint
Assists and/or makes recommendations to customers in the service areas within the store including, but not limited to; chain, rope, key, and glass cutting, screen repair, and knife sharpening.
Operates cash register by scanning all merchandise, engaging the customer through suggestive selling, proper tendering of each transaction, and thanking the customer for shopping at GLA.
Adhere to all company policies.
Participates in periodic team meetings.
A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required along with the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
RELATIONSHIPS
Communicates with all members of store management, store supervisors, store associates, and the Support Center personnel as necessary. Maintains outstanding customer satisfaction.

Use of computer, computer keyboard, mouse, RF Gun, Google Drive, AceNet, Epicor (point of sale system) and email.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Six months related experience and/or training preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

customers or associates of the organization. Ability to understand and respond to verbal instructions or
questions.

POSITION SUMMARY
Upholds the Core Values as determined by the management team. Primary responsibility for all positions with Holmes Ace Hardware is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time. Floor associates are responsible for engaging the customer, determining their needs and projecting requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Help unload incoming trucks and put away merchandise (as arranged by management). Maintain your assigned department: Keep clean, organized and fully stocked.
● Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management displaying a “Speed is Life” attitude. Move with a sense of urgency while paying attention to the details.
● Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team, for example actively participate in daily huddle meetings, share ideas for improvement with management.
● Remove promotional bin tags from displays, and price tags as required following sales events, flyers, etc.
● Restock merchandise displays as needed, watch end caps and side wings.
● Handle special orders for all non-stock items. It always takes two associates to say “No.” Never tell a customer no without checking with the assistant manager or store manager.
● Watch for shoplifters and take action, in line with company policy, that will discourage shoplifting. Excellent customer service and interaction prevents shoplifting.
● Provide the best possible experience for Every Customer, Every Time by being helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.
● When you are not with a customer or cleaning, stand in a main aisle to get the best view of customers coming into your department. Walk up and down the main aisles to be sure customers are being assisted in all departments. Avoid personal conversations with co-workers on the floor.
● Serve Customers in assigned departments, or storewide, and provide needed advice or information, greet customers as soon as you encounter them.
● Demonstrate the S.A.L.E.S. process.
● Actively participate in store communication and initiatives (e.g., Communication Board, Daily Huddle, store contests, etc.).
● Assist Customers with simple complaints/concerns; get a manager involved with problems as needed.
● Use the Five Foot Rule – greet and/or acknowledge all customers within five feet of you all the time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Help unload incoming trucks and put away merchandise (as arranged by management). Maintain your assigned department: Keep clean, organized and fully stocked.
● Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management displaying a “Speed is Life” attitude. Move with a sense of urgency while paying attention to the details.
● Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team, for example actively participate in daily huddle meetings, share ideas for improvement with management.
● Remove promotional bin tags from displays, and price tags as required following sales events, flyers, etc.
● Restock merchandise displays as needed, watch end caps and side wings.
● Handle special orders for all non-stock items. It always takes two associates to say “No.” Never tell a customer no without checking with a floor manager, assistant manager or store manager.
● Watch for shoplifters and take action, in line with company policy, that will discourage shoplifting. Excellent customer service and interaction prevents shoplifting.
● Provide the best possible experience for Every Customer, Every Time by being helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.
● When you are not with a customer or cleaning, stand in a main aisle to get the best view of customers coming into your department. Walk up and down the main aisles to be sure customers are being assisted in all departments. Avoid personal conversations with co-workers on the floor.
● Serve Customers in assigned departments, or storewide, and provide needed advice or information, greet customers as soon as you encounter them.
● Demonstrate the WOW process
● Actively participate in store communication and initiatives (e.g., Communication Board, Daily Huddle, store contests, etc.)
● Assist Customers with simple complaints/concerns; get a manager involved with problems as needed.
● Use the Five Foot Rule – greet and/or acknowledge all customers within five feet of you all the time.
● Always be polite and attentive to customers. Make eye contact and smile. Do not avoid customers.

REGISTER OPERATIONS (typically 70% or more of role)
Operates cash register by scanning all merchandise, engaging the customer through suggestive selling, proper tendering of each transaction, and thanking the customer for shopping at GLA.
Processes refunds and/or issues in store merchandise credit to customers for returned merchandise.
Uses loss prevention techniques to reduce shortages and prevent shoplifting.
Follows GLA policies and procedures for all transactions. Engages the customer to ensure they are receiving all the benefits of being an Ace Rewards member and actively seeking participation from them.

Assists with color matching and mixing paint
Assists and/or makes recommendations to customers in the service areas within the store including, but not limited to; chain, rope, key, and glass cutting, screen repair, and knife sharpening.
Operates cash register by scanning all merchandise, engaging the customer through suggestive selling, proper tendering of each transaction, and thanking the customer for shopping at GLA.
Adhere to all company policies.
Participates in periodic team meetings.
A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required along with the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
RELATIONSHIPS
Communicates with all members of store management, store supervisors, store associates, and the Support Center personnel as necessary. Maintains outstanding customer satisfaction.

Completes all company and departmental paperwork accurately, including Price Change Bulletins, Operation Actions, Red Tags, and Bin Tags.
Receives, opens, and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking paperwork against items received when required, and replenishes stock when necessary.
Displays and maintains merchandise on end caps, shelves, counters or tables following company plan‐ogram, building displays when necessary to attract customers and promote sales within specified
guidelines by your management team.
Maintains on‐hand integrity through inventory adjustment reports including; cycle count, negative onhand. Follows the nightly maintenance checklist to ensure proper store recovery and cleanliness.
Maintains familiarity with new products and ad merchandise.
Has sound awareness of surroundings, customers, etc. and practices loss prevention techniques to minimize shoplifting losses.

Customer acknowledgement is always the number one responsibility of the Cashier. The Cashier is the Great Lakes Ace (GLA) team member who often has the most customer contact; in this role you are
accountable for maintaining a good company image and promoting GLA's goodwill through your attitude, appearance and a concern for the profitability of the entire store.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
REGISTER OPERATIONS (typically 70% or more of role)
Operates cash register by scanning all merchandise, engaging the customer through suggestive selling, proper tendering of each transaction, and thanking the customer for shopping at GLA.
Processes refunds and/or issues in store merchandise credit to customers for returned merchandise.
Uses loss prevention techniques to reduce shortages and prevent shoplifting.
Follows GLA policies and procedures for all transactions. Engages the customer to ensure they are receiving all the benefits of being an Ace Rewards member and actively seeking participation from them.
Maintains familiarity with all ads, rebates and special pricing; reports pricing errors to management.
Answers telephones and refers all calls to proper department through the use of the paging system and two way radios.
SALES FLOOR (typically 30% or less of role)
Greets all customers and assists in answering questions about merchandise; uses The S.A.L.E.S. process to help customers find everything on their lists.
Aid customers in locating merchandising in store, on acehardware.com, as well as, processing special orders.
Displays, stocks and maintains merchandise on end caps, shelves, counters or tables following company plan‐o‐gram, building displays when necessary to attract customers and promote sales within specified guidelines by your management team.
Assists with color matching and mixing paint.
Collect carts; carry merchandise out to customer cars if needed.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Assists and/or makes recommendations to customers in the service areas within the store including, but not limited to; chain, rope, key, and glass cutting, screen repair, and knife sharpening.
Follows the nightly maintenance checklist to ensure proper store recovery and cleanliness of assigned work areas.
Refers customer complaints to proper person for resolution.
A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required along with the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
RELATIONSHIPS
Professionally communicates with customers, all members of store management, store associates, and the Support Center associates as necessary.
TECHNOLOGY
Use of computer keyboard, mouse, and Epicor system.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively with customers or associates of organization. Ability to understand and respond to verbal instructions or questions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percents.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

POSITION SUMMARY
Upholds the Core Values as determined by the management team. Primary responsibility for all positions with Holmes Ace Hardware is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time. Floor associates are responsible for engaging the customer, determining their needs and projecting requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Help unload incoming trucks and put away merchandise (as arranged by management). Maintain your assigned department: Keep clean, organized and fully stocked.
● Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management displaying a “Speed is Life” attitude. Move with a sense of urgency while paying attention to the details.
● Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team, for example actively participate in daily huddle meetings, share ideas for improvement with management.
● Remove promotional bin tags from displays, and price tags as required following sales events, flyers, etc.
● Restock merchandise displays as needed, watch end caps and side wings.
● Handle special orders for all non-stock items. It always takes two associates to say “No.” Never tell a customer no without checking with the assistant manager or store manager.
● Watch for shoplifters and take action, in line with company policy, that will discourage shoplifting. Excellent customer service and interaction prevents shoplifting.
● Provide the best possible experience for Every Customer, Every Time by being helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.
● When you are not with a customer or cleaning, stand in a main aisle to get the best view of customers coming into your department. Walk up and down the main aisles to be sure customers are being assisted in all departments. Avoid personal conversations with co-workers on the floor.
● Serve Customers in assigned departments, or storewide, and provide needed advice or information, greet customers as soon as you encounter them.
● Demonstrate the S.A.L.E.S. process.
● Actively participate in store communication and initiatives (e.g., Communication Board, Daily Huddle, store contests, etc.).
● Assist Customers with simple complaints/concerns; get a manager involved with problems as needed.
● Use the Five Foot Rule – greet and/or acknowledge all customers within five feet of you all the time.
● Always be polite and attentive to customers. Make eye contact and smile. Do not avoid customers.
● Promote the Ace Rewards program to all customers, describe the Ace Helpful Promise(s) and use the Magic Question.
● Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisement so you can tell customers about special sales.
● Always wear your radio and headset in order to effectively communicate with other associates or management.
● Respond to Customer Coordinator questions as needed.
● Assist customers with large or heavy items as needed.
● Offer customers a red basket for their shopping use.
● Assist in the training and development of peers.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
● Able to communicate professionally with customers and team members.
● Skilled at providing prompt, friendly and attentive customer service.
● Strong organizational skills with a passion for details.
● Willing to learn all areas of the store and help train others.
● Proven track record of being a team player.
● Knowledge and experience of various departments is strongly desired.
● A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required.
● Availability must be flexible including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Assists and/or makes recommendations to customers in the service areas within the store including, but not limited to; chain, rope, key, and glass cutting, screen repair, and knife sharpening.
Register Operations and Cash Control ‐ Follow cash control measures per corporate guidelines with timely safe/register counting, banking and communication with District Manager.
Controlling and Overseeing Operating Costs – Control and oversee operating costs (maintenance of fixtures/machinery, store supplies, etc.) through proper training of store associates.
Inventory Control ‐ Maintain accurate inventory through on‐hand integrity, daily receiving, store opportunity communication, product flow, and adhering to corporate guidelines and deadlines.
Merchandising ‐ Ensure appropriate merchandise stock levels, merchandise adjacencies and presentations according to corporate guidelines; signing, and assortment in all departments; ensure sales floor is adequately stocked.
Communication ‐ Must have strong and effective oral and written communication skills. Have the ability to disseminate information in a professional manner, and cultivate change with all levels of the organization.
Store Appearance ‐ Create and maintain a clean, safe and presentable shopping experience with a favorable impression to our customers, neighbors, and associates. Associate break rooms, restrooms, Helpful Hub, office and/or customer service counter MUST be cleaned and maintained at all times. Nightly recovery must be completed.
Attendance – A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required along with the ability to work a rotating schedule including weekends.

A good job candidate is a person who knows their way around a cash register and can easily operate it, together with a product scanner. Their main responsibilities include accepting payments and providing receipts, making sure all transactions run smoothly and every customer is satisfied with the service.

Position Summary

● Provide prompt and courteous customer service.
● Precisely and accurately handle money, checks, and other types of payment received for product sold.
● Perform credit card transactions and personal check acceptance in accordance with company standards and policies and practices.
● Verify the accuracy of the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, and immediately notify your manager on duty of any inaccuracies
● Practice suggestive selling and build customer relations.
● Be aware of sales goals and performance against those goals.
● Review and adhere to all city, county, state, and federal laws affecting Postal Station operations.
● Maintain a neat personal appearance and wear company uniform and nametag at all times.
● Address customer complaints in a positive manner. Document complaints for follow up by Management when necessary.
● Ensure that your work area is free of litter and spills and that all equipment is sanitized and free of dirt, as well as ensuring that all equipment is in working condition.
● Face front and dust merchandise near Postal Station area.
● Follow company policies and procedures for all transactions.

● Review and adhere to store safety/emergency procedures – critical telephone numbers and incident reporting forms and protocol.

Greets all customers and assists in answering questions about merchandise and locating merchandising; uses The S.A.L.E.S. process to help customers find everything on their lists.
Completes all company and departmental paperwork accurately, including Price Change Bulletins, Operation Actions, Red Tags, and Bin Tags.
Receives, opens, and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking paperwork against items received when required, and replenishes stock when necessary.
Displays and maintains merchandise on end caps, shelves, counters or tables following company plan‐ogram, building displays when necessary to attract customers and promote sales within specified
guidelines by your management team.
Maintains on‐hand integrity through inventory adjustment reports including; cycle count, negative onhand. Follows the nightly maintenance checklist to ensure proper store recovery and cleanliness.
Maintains familiarity with new products and ad merchandise.
Has sound awareness of surroundings, customers, etc. and practices loss prevention techniques to minimize shoplifting losses.
Working knowledge of the tools available to operate the store; including, but not limited to: RF Gun, Back Office Procedures and the use of Store Opportunities.
Follows GLA policies and procedures for all transactions. Engages the customer to ensure they are receiving all the benefits of being an Ace Rewards member and actively seeking participation from them.
Must be able to communicate effectively, and work with colleagues and customers effectively and professionally.

Assists with color matching and mixing paint
Assists and/or makes recommendations to customers in the service areas within the store including, but not limited to; chain, rope, key, and glass cutting, screen repair, and knife sharpening.

General Summary
The Cashier is responsible for register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Customer Service
• Project a positive representation of Ace Hardware.
• Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers by name, when possible, when they are leaving the store.
• Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
• Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently.
• Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly, courteously and effectively.
• Communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance.
• Continually build product knowledge base and possess the ability to assist customers with store layout and product location.
• Assist in pricing, stocking, marking, and bagging of merchandise.
Register Operations
• Follow all cash register transaction procedures.
• Responsible for balancing of register drawer.
• Adhere to any Store Support Center program or promotion that may require implementation at the cash registers.
• Participate in store and Cashier meetings.
Front End Appearance and Upkeep
• Keep the front end, (including checkout areas and entrance doors) neat and clean at all times. Face and dust front end.
• Assist with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced, rotate fresh merchandise in as seasons change.
• Ensure fresh ads are stocked in shopping carts at all times.
• Ensure forms and supplies are stocked at all times.
• Assist with decorating the front end according to the Store Support Center program.
• Call for cart pickups when necessary.
• Inform management when merchandise returns need to be put away.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
Other Essential Requirements
Education/Training:
High School or GED equivalent.
Experience:
Cashier experience preferred. Customer service experience preferred.
Physical Demands
Standing, walking, lifting (up to 40lbs) and climbing.

The primary responsibilities of the Sales Associate position are to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales, merchandise product, own assigned departments and support the store
management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (Other duties may be assigned as needed):
Greets all customers and assists in answering questions about merchandise and locating merchandising; uses The S.A.L.E.S. process to help customers find everything on their lists.
Completes all company and departmental paperwork accurately, including Price Change Bulletins, Operation Actions, Red Tags, and Bin Tags.
Receives, opens, and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking paperwork against items received when required, and replenishes stock when necessary.
Displays and maintains merchandise on end caps, shelves, counters or tables following company plan‐ogram, building displays when necessary to attract customers and promote sales within specified
guidelines by your management team.
Maintains on‐hand integrity through inventory adjustment reports including; cycle count, negative onhand. Follows the nightly maintenance checklist to ensure proper store recovery and cleanliness.
Maintains familiarity with new products and ad merchandise.
Has sound awareness of surroundings, customers, etc. and practices loss prevention techniques to minimize shoplifting losses.
Working knowledge of the tools available to operate the store; including, but not limited to: RF Gun, Back Office Procedures and the use of Store Opportunities.
Follows GLA policies and procedures for all transactions. Engages the customer to ensure they are receiving all the benefits of being an Ace Rewards member and actively seeking participation from them.
Must be able to communicate effectively, and work with colleagues and customers effectively and professionally.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with color matching and mixing paint
Assists and/or makes recommendations to customers in the service areas within the store including, but not limited to; chain, rope, key, and glass cutting, screen repair, and knife sharpening.
Operates cash register by scanning all merchandise, engaging the customer through suggestive selling, proper tendering of each transaction, and thanking the customer for shopping at GLA.
Adhere to all company policies.
Participates in periodic team meetings.
A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required along with the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
RELATIONSHIPS
Communicates with all members of store management, store supervisors, store associates, and the Support Center personnel as necessary. Maintains outstanding customer satisfaction.
TECHNOLOGY
Use of computer, computer keyboard, mouse, RF Gun, Google Drive, AceNet, Epicor (point of sale system) and email.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Six months related experience and/or training preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions,
and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with
customers or associates of the organization. Ability to understand and respond to verbal instructions or
questions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situations.
