Store Manager Full-Time

Position Summary:

Store Managers are responsible for the complete day-to-day operation of the store. They are responsible for maximizing store sales and profitability, along with managing expenses while ensuring that the store is optimally stocked and merchandised and that all customers are provided with excellent customer service. A Store Manager contributes to the growth and development of the management team and store associates.

Major Responsibilities:

The major responsibilities for this position include:

  • Drive store sales by ensuring that all customers are acknowledged, customers needs are met, and concerns are resolved quickly
  • Hire, train, and develop retail staff with goals for growth and success in their positions, provide performance feedback and recognize accomplishments
  • Coordinate the overall supervision of staff to ensure sales performance goals are met and procedures are followed accurately
  • Regulate store inventory to reduce shrinkage, maintain appropriate stock levels and ensure inventory accuracy
  • Direct the shipping, receiving, and inventory flow for the store
  • Forecast scheduling needs to meet customer demand and create work schedules
  • Delegate daily workload among associates to meet merchandising and visual presentation standards
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures

Minimum Requirements:

The minimum requirements for this position include:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of previous retail management experience
  • High School or GED equivalent required; some college preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of computer systems, MS Word and Excel is a plus
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with high attention to detail
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business

Physical Requirements:

The minimum physical requirements for this position include:

  • Employee must regularly move and/or lift 50lbs
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency in order to read and understand
  • While performing the duties, the employee is regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision with the ability to adjust focus

Gerrity’s Ace currently has 5 locations and plans to open more in the future. We are affiliated with Ace Hardware Corporation based in Oak Brook, IL which is a retailer-owned hardware wholesaler that began operation in 1924.
