Ace Hardware, your local hardware store, is seeking a Shift Supervisor to oversee store operations and ensure top-notch customer service in the absence of the store manager and assistant store manager. This role offers a growth opportunity for individuals with leadership experience and proven reliability. As the "Manager on Duty," you will play a crucial role in maintaining store functions, enforcing safety policies, and leading a team of dedicated associates.

Wages commensurate with experience.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for opening and/or closing the store as dictated by the schedule.
  • In the absence of management staff, he or she serves as the “Manager on Duty” by directing the store team and adhering to company directed policies and procedures as they relate to the store operations, receiving of merchandise, store opening and closing processes, cash register transactions, cash handling policies, daily cash reconciliation and inventory control.
  • Problem solves any issues pertaining to the shift including employee, customer, product issues, etc.
  • Escalates issues and concerns to the assistant manager or manager as quickly as possible.
  • Enforces safety policies and procedures and serves as a role model for safety.
  • Oversee the paint department operations, ensuring all associates are trained and knowledgeable about paint products and application techniques, as applicable to location.
  • Oversees their own department as assigned by the manager.
  • Responsible for at least 1, but up to 3, department heads as assigned by the manager who will report directly to them.
  • Assists with scheduling, hiring, disciplinary actions, training and evaluation of other associates as assigned by the store manager.
  • Monitor inventory levels of paint products, ensuring timely restocking and proper organization of displays, as applicable to location.
  • Ensure quality control of paint products, addressing any discrepancies or issues promptly, as applicable to location.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months to 1 year of retail experience
  • Proficient in computer systems
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, as well as frequent walking, reaching, and bending to perform job duties.
  • Move and handle merchandise up to 100 pounds.
  • Adjust fixtures throughout the store, which entails assembling, lifting and displaying.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling paint and chemicals.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for tasks such as mixing paint, operating machinery, and handling tools.
