The start date for this position is Tuesday, October 29th which kicks off employee training for the remainder of the week.  The store will open on November 5th.

We are seeking outgoing, friendly, and helpful team members to welcome and assist customers. While previous hardware experience is a plus, it is not required as we provide extensive training.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Cashiers are responsible for providing customers with fast and friendly service at the cash register area.

The primary responsibility for all employees of South Meadows Ace Hardware is to “AMAZE EVERY CUSTOMER EVERY TIME.”

 

CASHIER OPERATIONS

  • Follow company policies and procedures for all transactions.
  • Precisely and accurately handle money and other types of payment received for products sold, including processing refunds and issuing in-store merchandise credit for returned items.
  • Perform credit card transactions, manufacturer coupon redemption, personal check acceptance, and vendor check-in transactions in accordance with company standards, policies, and practices.
  • Engage customers to ensure they receive all the benefits of being an ACE Rewards member and actively seek their participation.
  • Verify the accuracy of the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, and immediately notify the manager on duty of any discrepancies.
  • Aid customers in locating merchandise in-store and on acehardware.com, as well as processing special orders.
  • Be knowledgeable and actively participate in all sales promotions, daily huddles, and other campaigns.
  • Communicate any store issues to the General Manager for follow-up.
  • Share any merchandising, cost control, or sales ideas with the General Manager.
  • Be alert for merchandise theft.
  • Protect all company assets and report any missing or damaged merchandise to your supervisor.
  • Address all safety concerns immediately.

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES MAY ALSO INCLUDE

  • Always keep the checkout area and entrance doors neat and clean.
  • Face and dust the front end.
  • Assist with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced, and rotate fresh merchandise as seasons change.
  • Ensure forms and supplies are always stocked.
  • Call for cart pickups when necessary.
  • Inform management when merchandise returns need to be put away.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Provide a positive representation of South Meadows Ace Hardware.
  • Be “customer ready” whenever you are on the sales floor.
  • Greet customers entering and throughout the store.
  • Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store.
  • Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
  • Recommend related items when appropriate and execute S.A.L.E.S. process.
  • Proactively assist customers in solving problems.
  • Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor, work well with customers as well as fellow associates.
  • Ensure all pages and calls are answered promptly and courteously.
  • Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management.
  • Always wear company uniform and nametag.
