JOB TITLE: Shift Manager

A. PURPOSE

The Shift Manager is responsible for ensuring the execution of all associates’ responsibilities by providing direction, guidance and accountability per workflow needs on a daily basis. The SM is accountable for the operation of the store ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandising, inventory, expense control, human resources management, and managing operating costs and shrinkage.

B. JOB DUTIES

Assists with the management of employees in the store to ensure company policies, processes, and procedures are followed in accordance to company standards.

Accountable for upholding Loss Prevention measures including assisting in the management of controllable expenses.

Ability to perform job functions of other roles as needed (Cashier, sales associate and merchandise associate).

Collaborates regularly with the Assistant General Manager (AGM) on operational performance indicators and inventory status.

Collaborate with the Category Manager to ensure pricing integrity is in place and up to standard per product.

Enforces safety policies and procedures; is a safety role model.

Review all Store signage daily to ensure accuracy, up to date and in excellent condition.

All daily inventory management tasks are completed by deadlines to ensure accurate inventory of store.

Handle and assist with ensure open and close procedures are followed.

Ensure daily, weekly and monthly housekeeping standards are met and corrects all areas immediately.

Informs associates of all promotions, events and other necessary job information to ensure customers are well informed.

Ensures task execution and is responsible for a prioritized delegation of the daily workload among associates in execution of daily Workflow.

Educates and follows up with associates regarding promotion of Ace Rewards.

Ensures the staff is trained and accountable for store policies and procedures, motivated, engaged, presentable, punctual, and providing exceptional customer service.

Maintain strict cleanliness and organizational standards in the backroom.

Provides critical feedback and coaching to direct reports, as needed.

Handle and resolves customer complaints as needed and in a professional manner in line with Company and ACE Hardware standards.

Responsible for ensuring associates are knowledgeable of product lines and technology platforms.

Responsible for ensuring the store is recovered and ready for business every day.

Works with senior leadership to identify root cause IRAs and execute solutions.

Other duties as assigned by the General Manager and/or AGM.

C. QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 1-3 years retail operations experience.

High School degree, some college preferred.

Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with a high attention to detail.

Demonstrates ability to lead and develop others in a consistent and professional manner.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations.

Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word and Excel required.

Strong knowledge of available product as well as ability to stay current on product trends

Strong leadership and analytical skills.

Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

Demonstrates comfort in regard to delegating and directing.

Exhibits professionalism in appearance and demeanor

Efficient planning and organization skills

Strong team working skills with the ability to lead up to 20 employees.

Technology proficient in general systems

D. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Climb stairs and ladders using proper safety measures 

Lifting up to 80 lbs. 

Bending, Stooping, Twisting, and Reaching

Use of hands for POS and Computer Use

Standing for lengthy periods of time (up to 10 hours or more) 

E. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work in heated and/or air-conditioned indoor setting including in a warehouse 

Ability and willingness to work flexible or non-operating hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business.
